Hola amigos! You may be wondering why I’m speaking Spanish. That I will tell you in just a second. If you’re in Little Rock and looking for things to do then you have come to the right place. Today’s post is about one of the most ultimate things to do in Little Rock, Arkansas and only the locals know the secret. Whether you’re a local or a tourist, then you absolutely have to visit the Heights neighborhood and steal a koozie from Heights Taco and Tamale Company!
I spoke Spanish in honor of today’s feature restaurant! The reason this is on my list of things to do in Little Rock is because Heights Taco & Tamale is one of my favorite restaurants. It wasn’t around when I was growing up here, sadly. HT&T was actually born in 2015 but luckily, it has been able to bless my 20s on numerous occasions with to-die-for food and drink. I’m the kind of person who lives to eat, not the other way around. In fact, it was where I had my 24th birthday celebration. First of all, HT&T serves my favorite meal in Little Rock (two pickle-fried chicken tacos, no sides, extra habanero ranch). Second of all, they serve the BEST mojito on the planet. I mean, you could not change my mind. AND THIRD OF ALL, their salsa and cheese dip on happy hour deserves a blog post of its own. TBA.
Anyway, back to the story behind the famous koozie. HT&T is not only known for their mouthwatering, Tex-Mex-inspired menu of tacos and tamales like it says its name, but also for their delicious cocktails. If and when you visit but you don’t want to spend the money on a cocktail or are doing a “dry” month unlike me lol, then you can make a trip out of just viewing the bar. From its ceiling-high, fully-stocked liquor shelf all the way down to their memorizing tile floor, Heights Taco & Tamale’s bar is one of the coolest things to see in the state of Arkansas. Several Arkansas blogs have featured T&T and dished their thoughts on the local restaurant but no one will tell you how you can actually steal a koozie from the bar! Here’s where I help!
How to Steal a Koozie from Heights Taco & Tamale Co.
I recommend ordering the Spring Fling frozen mojito. It’s $8, but worth. As mentioned above, it is the best mojito that I’ve ever tried in my whole life. I know it has “Spring” in the title, but ignore that. This Little Rock drink is available all year round. Served in a Collins glass with a straw and a sprig of mint leaves, the Spring Fling is the best thing to come to Little Rock since Browning’s occupied the space. That is a different story. The cool thing? The Spring Fling frozen mojito comes with a blue Heights Taco & Tamale koozie. You’re free to slip it into your pocket or purse, but please only steal the koozie and not your meal. When you have left the restaurant, take a peak at the bottom of the koozie. I will not spoil it for you. You just have to go, then congratulations – you’re practically a local now! I think the local consensus of HT&T is that it’s fun, it’s in a great and safe location, and the food and service is f*cking fantastic. Personally, I have the most fun there. I think it’s a unique experience that you come hungry and leave with more than just a full belly. To Heights Taco & Tamale Company, you’re doing GREAT sweetie!
That’s it for today’s post, y’all! I hope you’re able to make it down to the Heights and get you a koozie that you deserve. If you’re a local, have you ever gotten a koozie from HT&T? If you’re not a local, what is something cool to do in your city? I would love to know. If you liked this blog post, then please like, comment, and share to your socials.
