It’s August A.K.A. my birthday month! We’re almost done with summer… I cannot believe it! As always, here are some upcoming events I found notable happening all month long…

Aug. 1
The Heights Annual Sidewalk Sale starts this day and goes for everyday til the 5th from 10 am to 1 pm.

Pop Up Painting with Barry Thomas today and Aug. 2 at 5:30 pm at the Barry Thomas Fine Art & Studio located in downtown NLR! Space is limited so you must by your tickets and RSVP to the event.

Aug. 3
Head to Kings in Conway for some live music by the Gable Bradley Band! Starts at 8:30 pm. Buy tickets here!

The Weekend Theater is hosting Bare: A Pop Opera! Sounds realllly interesting- I’ve only been to this theater once! Find tickets here! This is a reoccurring events with just a few days in August. See the Facebook page for more details!

Aug. 4
Wish Miss RC a happy 24th birthday! Or don’t. Either way she’ll be skipping around town with a bouquet of flowers in one hand and her free Starbucks drink in the other!

Aug. 5
They grow up so fast! South on Main is turning 5 just a day after I turn 24! Join them at the restaurant for their Birthday Brunch Bash from 10 am to 2 pm! Y’ALL, $5 food and drink specials! Be sure to stay tuned on the Facebook event page for details on that! Even more, there’ll be a DJ and raffle prizes!!

Aug. 9
The Art of Fashion w/ Dallas Shaw presented by my favorite local magazine, Soirée, is happening at the Arkansas Arts Center from 5:30 to 8 pm. Starting with a wine reception and a book signing, lecture starts at 6 pm where Dallas Shaw will be discussing her career as an artist and project designer and promoting her new book. Plus it’s only $10 for non-members!

Aug. 11
Kaleidoscope, Argenta Arts Disctrict, and Flyway Brewing present the Queer Arts Street Fair! Omg, this event is jam-packed! It will take place in downtown NLR on 4th street between Main and Maple from 12 pm to 6 pm. The street fair will include everything from unique vendors, LGBTQ community non-profits, food trucks, local beer from Flyway, live music, and other street performances! Free!

After that, head across the river to the Robinson Center Performance Hall for the Make-A-Wish Lip Sync Battle from 7 to 9 pm. Our very own Heather Brown from Alice 107.7 (who doesn’t love her?!) is hosting! For tickets, click here and get prepared for an evening of lively entertainment!

Aug. 14
Every month, Lost Forty Brewing (one of my personal favorite local micro-breweries here in town) hosts a pub run. This day is the August Pub Run from 6:30 to 8:30 pm in which they will be joined by Saucony!

Godsmack and Shinedown at Verizon Arena. Starts at 7 pm and tickets by TicketMaster.

Aug. 16
Celebrate National Rum Day at La Terreza Rum & Lounge in Hillcrest where there will be rum specials all nght in addition to reps giving away free samples and fun, rum facts! For tickets, go here! Only $15 in advance, or $20 at the door!

Join Lost Forty Brewing for their Brewhouse Bash: the STATE-wide release of their very own Mexican-Style Vienna Lager, Easy Tiger (tried it before, loved it)! Oh yes, they’re expanding like crazy! They have a lot of fun in store: live canning, a live mariachi band, food specials, tours, and free Easy Tiger swag for the first 50 guests!

The Meteor is hosting trivia night and it’s going to be “legen – wait for it – DARY!!” You guessed it! Theme is How I Met Your Mother! From 7 pm to 9 pm, come enjoy friendly competition and all kinds of bevs – not just coffee!

Aug. 17
If you’re a fan of Pink Floyd, you might be a fan of this. Brick In The Wall is a Pink Floyd tribute band from Dallas, Texas. Their live show is happening at the Rev Room on President Clinton Ave. Doors open at 7:30 pm and show starts at 9. All ages welcome. $20!

Aug. 19
My Northwestern AR readers, Sunday Funkday at Kingfish in Fayetteville is happening this day from 6 pm to 10 pm. Brought to you by Lost Forty Brewing and Emerg Entertainment, there is no cover to a full evening of crawfish and patio fun!

Aug. 25
I’m loving this – it’s the Acapella Rising Annual Show at Pulaski Technical College’s CHARTS Theater! Map is on the website! There will be two showings: 2 pm for $20 and 7 pm for $25. Go cheer them on before they head to Dallas for a district-wide convention and competition!

Aug. 26
In honor of the first Arkansas Razorback Football game of the season just right around the corner, Lucky’s Sports Bar & Grill in Maumelle is hosting its 3rd Annual Crab & Shrimp Boil. About $9 on select buckets and don’t forget to wear Razorback red!

Aug. 29
The Rocktown Rum Dinner is happening at La Terraza Rum and Lounge, a Venezuelan restaurant in Hillcrest. At 6 pm, come for an evening of food and fun which includes 3 cocktail samples and a three-course specialty meal all for $45.

Aug. 30
Another Science After Dark at the Museum of Discovery on President Clinton Ave in Downtown. Personally, I’m most excited for this event because guess what!!! It’s Harry Potter themed! That’s right, stop in between 6 pm and 9 pm for all the Wizards, Muggles, & Science you can take! Tickets are only $10 and my favorite thing about it is the pizza and Stone’s Throw Brewing served at the event as well. Careful, ages 21 and up! Well done, Museum of Discovery!

Reoccurring Events:

Art Is In Cakes, a Bakery & Supply store, is having several cooking classes and demos all throughout the month of August. So many, in fact, that there were too many to list! Go to their Facebook page to see the full listing and learn how to register.

Gigi’s Soul Cafe & Lounge hosts their signature brunch every Sunday from 10 am to 2 pm. Not JUST for the month of August, but all the way through December! Located in Maumelle!

Every Monday at 8 pm at the Little Rock Movie Tavern is Comedy Night! The first one being Aug. 5th. If you don’t know what the movie tavern is, it’s fairly new! It’s Little Rock’s first movie theater and restaurant in one. Disclaimer: the event page says Sunday but one of the comments says Monday. I’m unsure exactly which night it is, but if interested I would suggest calling beforehand! No ticket required!
