OMG hey!!! Y’all, I am so bad at the consistent thing! I have more great news since the last update I posted! I’m about to share another adult-ish thing that has happened since New Year’s! Well, two things actually… So sit back, grab a mimosa or if you’re at work- caffeine!!!, and keep reading if you’d like to find out what!

I don’t know if it’s just me, but I’m a huge fan of new years. Something about fresh, clean slates that brings me happiness, ambition, and motivation. We’ve already made it to the month of February so some of you guys are probably staying focused on your new years resolutions. If so, what are they? What does the new year mean to you? What do you want to accomplish in 2018? Actually, my boss just asked me these same questions last month at our team meeting. I haven’t come up with a whole lot for my “work” resolutions (I mean, learning COBOL would be NICE) although she expects me to email her mine by Friday lolololol. And as far as “life” resolutions go (that means like outside work), I’m doing something else for a change. I’m making one, solid goal for 2018: learn to adult. I’m 23 YEARS OLD and I still dread all the errands and the scheduling and the cleaning! Arrrgggghhhjouqponav!!

So the first thing I’d like to share is I hit the one-year anniversary of working full-time at my job! I know that’s lame news, but it wasn’t for me! It was tough getting there, but damn doesn’t it feel good when you hit a milestone that you’d been hoping for? Back when I had my interim performance review, I was so scared but for no reason. Just like it always turns out, honestly. There was hella improvement to be made since starting at Dillard’s, and hella improvement is what showed according to my trainer. That’s a compliment, right? It was just an immense relief. So when I hit the 1-year mark, I was actually prouder of myself than I had been since basically graduating college in 2016 or since buying my first car. Remember guys, it’s perfectly fine to feel proud of yourself sometimes. It’s even fine to brag a little about it too. Just not excessively, hehe! I even felt like bragging on my Facebook, but posting to Facebook is only okay if you’re living in 2008 or are over the age of 35 (ie. not me). No offense, everyone. So anyway, I wanted to share it with my friends and family but hesitated. Now, I’m sharing it with the whole world. No regrats.

The SECOND adult-ish thing I did was book my first Airbnb and take a road trip to Nashville. I literally can’t thank our host enough for making mine and my boyfriend’s first bnb experience so easy and so wonderful! If you ever find yourself visiting the city of Music then, I would 10/10 recommend booking with Katie. (Unsponsored). Like seriously, I was so stressed for this trip solely because I’d never booked an Airbnb before. (I’ve never even booked a hotel, y’all!) Even if you don’t like country music, which we didn’t, visit the “Athens of the South” and book with her!!! One of my favorite parts of the visit was seeing one of my best high school friends, Griffin, who I hadn’t seen in over 4 years! Although it’s hard to catch up after not seeing each other for so long, I feel like it was very worthwhile. Our first night there, he welcomed us into his city in the greatest way he knew how! Starting with sushi and hot Saki at ACME Feed and Seed, we made our way down Broadway stopping at a few of the bars for drinks. Like I said earlier, my boyfriend and I don’t really listen to country music. So, if you’re like us and want to get away from the country scene, I recommend Bourbon Street Blues and Boogie Bar, tucked nicely away in a little side street called Printer’s Alley. It felt forgotten and desolate on the outside, but when we arrived it was lively and exciting on the inside! I felt like I was in New Orleans! Nashville is one interesting place!

Next time, I’ll be sharing a few recipes I’ve tried the past couple of weeks. (One of which got me major brownie points among my coworkers. I’m just the shit!) I’ll also be sharing a couple of my favorite blogs and discussing where I want to take my own this coming year! Feel free to leave a comment and describe how you’ve “adulted” since new years! We’re in this together!
